A quick tour of Mikka’s online shop SeektheUniq.com tells you a story about her personal style. I’ve known her since her days at The Ramp as their incredibly chic buyer and promptly filed her profile into my brain’s “must-watch outfits” category. We met before the days of social media so each encounter we had though brief, was always a sartorial delight. Nowadays, a visit to her Instagram account @mischmashmikka is enough to satisfy anyone’s fashion fix. It also doesn’t hurt that she’s one of the nicest people you’ll ever meet and shares my slight obsession with J. Crew, Anthropologie, magazines and happy hour. She was a natural choice as one of my fashion features for SOS.
A visit to her home-cum-office is akin to entering into her world of delicious colors, prints, global finds and everything that’s awesome about life. The vibe at her online shop’s headquarters feels like a constant party, it’s lively, easy and warm–much like Mikka herself. Her style is part bohemian, part preppy with a statement accessory adding that element of surprise. It comes in different forms: a men’s watch, chunky neckpieces, intricate earrings and pupil-dilating, heart-stopping, shoes! A sensible and practical shopper, her ensembles like her home decor, never feel too studied or contrived. Both (closet and home) are filled with lovingly curated pieces from different cities that’s sure to ignite passion for travel and exploration. This passion carries over to how she runs her business: Mikka knows her market very well and doesn’t really have to look very far to “sell” the STU lifestyle. She’s a living, breathing example of Seek The Uniq which, much to a shopper’s chagrin, naturally explains why her stuff are always sold out.
