I’ve a had a number of mom clients lately and all of them have more or less the same criteria when choosing clothes to buy: easy to wear, breastfeeding friendly, practical, comfortable, fuss-free yet still fashionable and hip without having that “mommy” vibe. Now I know mothers wear many hats, some by choice but most by circumstance. My own mother is a Superhero who, before retiring, was a bank executive who spent long hours at the office yet still managed to do the grocery on her lunch break, prepare the week’s menu, check up on us kids on how we were doing, stayed up until I got home from a night out, took care of my Dad’s needs and ran the household. It is only now that I realise how taxing motherhood can get (through my peers who are moms and most recently, from my clients) that the last thing they’d want to think about is looking good while getting dressed in the morning. It was a challenge I welcomed with open arms and made it my vow to help these remarkable women by making them look and feel good. They more than deserve it after all!
Reading up on actress, entrepreneur and mom of two Jessica Alba gave me an idea to use her as a fashion peg for busy moms simply because she makes looking good while on the go, well, so darn good! I’ve always been a fan of her street style choices and while it does help that she’s super fit and gorgeous, her wardrobe isn’t complicated and easy enough to replicate without breaking the bank. I’ve chosen a couple of my favorites to help inspire all you moms out there who are at a loss on what works and what doesn’t given your lifestyle and body type. I always use celebrity influences on my clients when they begin their sartorial journey. It’s the easiest and fastest way to get inspiration from just by Googling. Hope you get inspired by Jessica’s looks and get the urge to purge. I promise it’ll be the best decision you’ll ever make.
