I spotted Pam at a birthday party last year coolly standing at the back of the room, quietly observing the goings-on with a drink in hand. I thought she looked familiar and walked up to her to ask if she was the photographer I worked with years ago in the old Summit Media office. My memory didn’t let me down. I don’t forget faces (though can’t say the same with names), especially people who have a distinct style that makes them stand out. That night, Pam was dressed as a hip, androgynous pretty young thing amidst a sea of chicks in tight short cocktail dresses. So of course I had to ask if she was game to be featured in the blog. I met her in her home to rummage through her closet and see what other quirky treasures lived inside. We found racks of thrift store finds that were so well-curated you wouldn’t even think it was from ukay-ukay. Oftentimes, she would point out a garment and comment, “I got this for P5.00 in Tagaytay” or “this was P20.00 from Alabang.” It made me want to drag her out and show me all her secret suppliers!

Pam’s style is all about relaxed, loose clothes paired with sneakers, flats or sandals. She considers herself heavily pear-shaped so much so that she prefers to hide her behind in the baggiest of pants and shorts. I demanded to see this “huge” butt expecting to see Kim Kardashian proportions. Instead, I saw a perfectly rounded (and sexy!) behind that would be the envy of every woman in the planet. It took a bit of convincing to bring out her skinny jeans—all two of them—and see how it looks on her ample assets. I had to tell her she was nuts to hide it, as it looked really good paired with a fitted top and wedge shoes. Add an impossibly flat stomach in the mix and it completes the (reluctant) bombshell look. Pam seemed to agree and promised me she’ll think about it and tag me in the photo, should the outfit ever see the light of day. I hope it does! In the meantime, here are the looks I put together from her closet that “she never thought would go together.” Hope it inspires YOU to show off your best assets, too!
