I had the privilege of being invited to the photo shoot and intimate crafts workshop by my friend Em, who graciously partnered with her friend Indy Ycasiano of She Dreams in Ink for their start-up passion project, School of Styling. Indy is a crafting genius who can create anything out of a few scraps of Japanese paper, wire stems and a glue gun. She is also one of the sweetest people you’ll ever meet. Soft-spoken with a natural motherly instinct, Indy lives for creativity and bringing imagination to life.

I’m normally drawn to creative people and have a soft spot for those who decide to live their dream, however big or small. I more than understand the struggle of choosing the road less traveled where security is not always guaranteed and recognition and acceptance isn’t always readily given. Only a fellow creative freelancer can relate to the sleepless nights filled with worry and uncertainty, as well as the joy it brings when one has finally found their calling. It took me a while to find mine and even more time to realize and move on the plan. It will always be an ongoing process and any chance I get to be of help to someone like me, I grab the opportunity to do so.

Upon arriving at the venue, I knew I it was gonna be a fun-filled afternoon. The wind was blowing incredibly strong which made keeping the table decor challenging to pin down, but at least it wasn’t scorching hot and the bright light made for awesome photos. The effect was cozy, clean and conducive to creating.
