Spanish brand Sfera was launched yesterday at SM Makati, the first branch ever outside their headquarters in Spain. In my quest to find the best deals and new upcoming brands for my clients, I gladly checked out the goods and was pretty amazed at the variety, quality and most importantly, the very reasonable price points!! Their items were a good mix of classic and trendy pieces injected with accessories and even shoes. I scored a stripe dress for myself–because one can never have too many stripes in their closet, at least for my sister and I–and decided to do a little styling tutorial featuring the dress worn in three ways. Here are my takes showing just how versatile AND important stripes are as a wardrobe staple.
Yellow and black has always been a favorite color combination. The stark contrast merge seamlessly and especially so when it’s combined with white by way of stripes. This dress from Sfera which retails for a cool P1799.00 isn’t your usual run-of-the-mill stripe dress. The embroidery on the neckline, beads on the rope belt’s tassel and fringe trim on the hem gives it a bohemian twist. Being a stripe fanatic, I gravitated towards this one immediately and my friend Amador noticed it too, saying this was so “me”. After fitting it, I went back to him and said he was right! The guy knew me well.
I played up the yellow trim with a yellow and gray printed clutch, amber and gold accessories and a chunky platform sandal with gold grommet hardware to complement the embroidery. These sandals offer height and comfort, an awesome deal if you’re the type who developed a sudden aversion to heels.
For a more polished look that makes the dress office-appropriate, slip black vinyl leggings underneath and pair it with “grown-up” pumps. Finish off with a crystal bangle, dainty pearl earrings and a no-nonsense leather bag.
Finally, what’s a summer dress if you don’t style it for the weekend? The red distressed sneakers is the neutral element in this ensemble, playfully highlighted by the stripes. Add a royal blue sling bag to complete the nautical/boho feel. Don’t forget a hat to keep the sun away!
Sfera is located at the 2nd floor, SM Makati.
