My models and I with The Park owners Angela (leftmost) and Mariel (rightmost).
Last October 7 (yes, I know this post is a bit late but with good reason—lots of gift ideas here for the shopping procrastinators, promise!) I held my third Style + Shop workshop for the year at The Park Fashion + Lifestyle in Shangri-La Mall. It’s a one-stop shop of over forty local brands (except for one) consisting of apparel, shoes, accessories, fragrance, home and beauty products for men, women and everything in between!
This time around, I worked with six very different individuals who so graciously agreed to be my models for the day. They were a mix of old and new friends with varying backgrounds, careers and most importantly, body types. The goal was to come up with holiday outfits for every occasion and I was very pleased to find everything I needed—waist trainer included—under one roof.
The Park owners Angela See and Mariel and Toby Veluz are young entrepreneurs who saw potential in building a space for small businesses to thrive and be recognized beyond their online stores. There is so much great talent and excellent quality to discover and I am happy these brands found a home in one of the premiere malls in the city. When I met Angela to discuss the idea, I was immediately drawn to her passion for bringing together local brands, making it possible for them to be known by the public outside their Instagram and Facebook feeds. I wanted to be part of that team of innovators and felt that I was giving back both to the shop owners and the attendees, especially this holiday season.
We were more than pleased with the turnout, I think it’s my biggest audience to date so far and happy to report that I’m getting the hang of this public speaking gig. Lots more in store for 2018! Meanwhile, here are highlights from that fun day.
The Park Fashion + Lifestyle is at 4F East Wing, Shangri-La Plaza Mall, Mandaluyong. Happy Shopping!
This workshop was monumental, I got my very first tarp!!
Rina is ready to party with the girls in a Cole Vintage black lace top and red ball skirt from Lemon, both holiday colors. She accessorized with neutral flats from Sorsia, a tiny wristlet from School of Satchel and pearl drop earrings from Dazzling Chic.
My old officemate Zo looks so va-va-voooom in this skintight dress by Moda Bella, a bright orange clutch for contrast and drop earrings from Dazzling Chic. Also…she is wearing a waist trainer to keep everything in its place, also available at The Park. No bumps or humps, just dangerous curves ahead!
My good friend Clarisse is in head-to-toe navy, a welcome change from the usual all black. The top is from Georly’s, palazzo pants from Susto, a chic M Studio bag and MaArte navy statement earrings. It’s a magnetizing monochromatic look perfect for New Year’s Eve!
Marie is such a beach bunny that I decided to dress her in resort wear, for those who’d rather escape the holiday rush and head to the beach. Her gorgeous jacket is Kaayo paired with an emerald green maillot worn as top from Soak Swim. Skirt is from Susto, sandals from Cole Vintage, cute satchel from Hide and Seek and white earrings to pull everything together from Lluna.
Sarah is every bit the Park Avenue Princess in this easy Sunday brunch look. Classic tweed jacket is by Eunice Sason, white pants from Mantou, a Moda Bella embroidered top, super comfy mules from Sewn Sandals and the very popular Cathy’s Bags rattan purse. Her accessories comprise of earrings from Anna Macopa and bracelet from Xi Xi’s accessories.
Gitri is often spotted in fitted, sexy pieces so I thought of going the opposite route and dress her in a classic knit + brocade pairing by way of this soft, grey top from Mantou, ball skirt from Lemon, grey bejeweled earrings from Cathy’s Bags and a silver Uashmama purse to spice things up a bit. The secret to her already tiny midsection is the mighty waist trainer that gave her an even more petite appearance.
Trust my amigo Miguel to do a wacky post with Gitri in a super soft, super comfy and airy Pasadya polo shirt. Proudly Philippine made, too. He was my very first male model so a shout out is in order!
Cool bartenders mixing spirits for guests and walk-ins.
All from the same fashion editorial (a term editors use when more than one is dressed in theme, or in this case, the same collection!) My feet were killing me at this point but…fight nonetheless!
Famous IG mom and daughter duo Rina and Rafa in coordinating outfits. How adorable are they?!
My constant support system also in coordinating outfits!
We wouldn’t have all these photos without my favorite photographer/husband. Heart emojis all around!
The only non-local brand in the shop. These bags and containers made of paper are super chic and sturdy!
Local fragrance brand Soleil et Lune is inspired by France and has a scent for every personality. My personal favorite is Simone.
